Does this transmitter work with a Futabab 6EX radio?

Does this transmitter work with a Futabab 6EX radio? This is a receiver not a transmitter, maybe you meant "does this receiver".......

Correct, a typo on my part... "Does this receiver work with a Futaba 6EX"? Thanks

Er, hang on, the 6EXP is a 35mhz set, so no it wouldnt. I assume you mean the 6EX 2.4g FASST? Yep, works perfik. Phil

I have just received one of these receivers and it will not bind with my 6EX 2.4 GHz transmitter. That is, the red light keeps flashing, which it should not do.

Remember the bind prcedure is different to Futaba: Futaba FASST: Power on tx, power on rx, hold bind button for 1 second. Frsky/Hobbyking FASST: Power on tx, hold bind button on rx down whilst applying power. Release button & wait a sec. Cheers Phil I have just received one of these receivers and it will not bind with my 6EX 2.4 GHz transmitter. That is, the red light keeps flashing, which it should not do.

Just tried one of these with a 6Ch Futaba FAAST set. Thought it wouldn't bind at first till I re-read the instructions and followed them word for word. i.e. I initially plugged in and pressed the bind button like you would do with a standard Futaba Rx and it didn't work. Re-read instructions and powered up whilst holding the bind button as per the instructions and bingo, bound straight away. Haven't flown yet but have checked out all channels (Well the 6 I can use!) and all seems OK. Also set up the fail safe as per instructions and no issues here either. I have only tried this with an electric set up and therefore BEC on ESC. A question to GC is which port would I plug in a separate power supply if using in an IC set up? It only shows 8x sets of pins in the instrctions for an 8ch receiver, no mention of a separate set of pins for a battery! Am I missing something? Final comment. Continually amazed at the great service from GC. Ordered yesterday before lunch and arrived here this morning (to NE Scotland too!)

Receivers use a common rail for the positive and ground so you can plug the battery into any spare channel, or use a Y-lead if using all 8 channels.

I just replaced a Futaba R617 with one of these to try it out. After pluggin in, the esc started beeping like mad, giving every failure in the book. Took me a while to figure this out but seems like every channel on this receiver is reversed compared to the original Futaba receivers (or is it the other way round ) Anyway, after reversing them all, it worked almost perfectly. Only one problem. I had the original receiver set up to use different channels for each aileron but that seems to be impossible with the Frsky receiver. Channel 6 used in the Futaba receiver won't do here. Neither does any other channel. Anyone has a solution for this other then using a Y cable and 1 channel for both? cheers Patrick

As for all channels reversed - I too replaced a 617 with the TFR8 (the airframe is just a Wot Trainer for buddying) and did not have to alter any of the settings programmed into the radio.
Mine work in exactly the same way as my Futaba 617s Patrick, as far as channel reversing and servo directions goes. The 'separate aileron channels' thing is entirely a transmitter function, nothing to do with the receiver at all, whether it be Frsky or genuine Futaba. Could it be a model memory mix-up? Its extremely unlikely to be a receiver problem, the receiver isnt even aware that the tranny is mixing channels. Cheers Phil I just replaced a Futaba R617 with one of these to try it out. Thanks for the reply guys, looks like I am the only one that had to reverse the cannels. Didn't had to much time to play around with things but I'll have a closer look later in the week. Maybe try the second rx also and see what that one will do. I'll try setting up a completely new model and see what that'll bring. Phill, the mix up is another thing I'll have to check out. I didn't think it was a rx problem, just that these type had some diffrent programing that prevented the second ailleron channel set up. But since Grummangoose had no problems there I suppose it isn't the rx/tx but more the guy doing the binding/programing, and that would be me. I'll let you all new how things turn out cheers

Is there a plastic rx sized box for this unit or is it available only as a module board.
