hi
to do the mixing in the TX you need one or two programable mixers , i have run setups with both one and two mixers , my JR will do airplane , glider , and heli mixing , i just have been useing >airplane< mode or type
the idea with useing one mixer is
you are just mixing 100% throttle > rudder
you may have to mix -100% or +100% and play around with reversing to get it right
what you want is the output from the rudder channel is the same as the throttle as you advance the throttle stick
the JR i have has a nice feature , it has a graphic screen that shows you what all the channels are putting out , looks like a bar graph , with a little dot that shows stick position , i will use this graphic idea as an example
on my system when i have it mixed right , and look in this screen i see the dot for the rudder is axactly under the dot for the throttle and as i move the throttle stick , both dots move exactly the same across the screen , with the throttle stick all the way down , both dots are at the left edge of the screen
with this setup you plug one esc into the throttle channel of the RX , and the gyro into the rudder channel and the second esc into the gyro , this just alters the speed of one rotor on rudder input so there is slight height changes in pirouettes , i don't feel it's much of a problem but if you want to correct it and you have two mixers in your TX
setup for two mixer TX
it's the same as one mixer in that you mix 100% throttle > rudder , just like you did above , and with the second mixer you mix 100% rudder > throttle
again you may have to mix -100% or +100% but what you end up with , useing this graphic screen as an example , as you advance the throttle stick to mid position , you would see both the throttle and rudder dots start from the left hand edge of the screen and both would move half way across the screen at the same rate ,
now if you move just the rudder stick to the side you will see the dot for the rudder channel move to the side too , and you will see the dot for the throttle channel move the same amount the other way , so one rotor would speed up and the other rotor would slow down
i have probably made this more complicated then i needed to but hopfully it will give you some idea of what i have been doing to mix a coaxial in a TX , i don't think you need a super high end TX to do this , but the nice thing is with a decent TX you have a lot of control over the feel of the system
the one thing i didn't mention above is in both setups i've been setting the travel adjustment of my rudder down to about 60% to give the yaw a softer feel , this is just personal preference and you may use a different amount
hope this is some help , if you have any questions i am always glad to help , dana |
